Private Schools Interscholastic Association
With 19 contest categories covering a wide range of disciplines, PSIA is an exciting opportunity for private and home school students to engage in academic competition with their peers throughout the state of Texas. PSIA sponsors academic and fine arts competitions similar to UIL for students in grades 1 through 8. You can learn more about PSIA on their website at www.psiaacademics.org
EE students have competed in PSIA in 2007, 2008, 2009 & 2010 and won numerous awards at both the district and state levels!
Our Virtual Trophy Case links to the left list awards won by EE students in previous years.
Our hope is that more homeschool families and groups will choose to participate in PSIA. Homeschool families may enter as individual families or as part of a homeschool group. There is a cost to join, and a group of just 4-5 families is usually more economical than joining as single families. PSIA closes registration in DECEMBER of each year, with District competitions usually taking place in March and State competition in early May. They are very accommodating of both individual homeschool families as well as homeschool groups. They are also flexible in contest placement. Students are allowed to enter in a contest up to 2 grade levels above their current grade level. Not all contests, however, are offered for all grade levels.
